Research Interests

As the ESL Writing Director, my primary focus is on the needs of the international population on campus. Our staff of lecturers, teaching assistants and research assistants serves the growing graduate and undergraduate population in fulfilling their writing requirements and pursuing elective opportunities for academic writing advancement. My current research interests include program administration, language pedagogy, teacher training, pedagogical writing, CALL (Computer assisted Language Learning), technology-enhanced curriculum development, and teaching in virtual worlds.

Current Projects

  • iELF: The Illinois English Language Forum (iELF) is a project to fill the need for academic ESL learning resources for the growing population of international students at UIUC. Visit
  • LCC: The SLCL Language Coordinator’s Community at UIUC is an organization made up of the second and foreign language program leaders and coordinators within our college.
  • The ESL Writing Courses at the University of Illinois include classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels. All of these courses are designed to improve student's English usage for both professional and academic purposes.
