Who We Are
World-renowned and accessible faculty, friendly staff, driven and talented graduate and undergraduate students, and successful alumni make Illinois Linguistics what it is.
Beyond classroom experience, a variety of reading groups and organizations are available for those wanting to be further involved. The Linguistics Student Organization (LSO) is open to all graduate and undergraduate students in linguistics and related fields, as well as to those with an interest in language. For those interested in phonetics and phonology, both F3 (Phonetics and Phonology Forum) and ExPhon (the experimental phonetics student organization) are available. A Sociolinguistics reading group and student organization (Speaking Socially) are also available.
