As a Department, we owe much to those who have come before us. After they leave Illinois, our alumni make their mark through their ongoing research and work with academic institutions and businesses.
We would love to hear from you, feature any of your work or updates that you’d like to publicize, and keep in touch with you. We’re delighted by the accomplishments of our former students, whether linguistic or otherwise, and hope to maintain a relationship with you that extends beyond your UIUC degrees.
With you in mind, we’ve designed a Newsletter for Alumni so we can help you keep up with our Department’s current activities, research and extra-departmental involvements. And for alumni only, Alumni Updates is a part of the newsletter where we can let your friends and former classmates know of changes in your professional and personal lives. You can easily send us your updates through the Alumni Update Form. Newsletters are distributed only to alumni of the Department. They are archived online but without the personal notices.
Although the Division of English as an International Language (DEIL) had its own newsletter, DEILing You In, for 18 years, from 1990 until it merged with the Department of Linguistics in 2008, the first newsletter of our expanded Department was published in Spring 2010. You can see past issues by clicking on 'Archived newsletters' to the left.
